It is recommended that you back up your data to an external device—for example, a CompactFlash card or a Secure ID card. If the handheld device is damaged, the backup might not be retrievable. If you store your backups in RAM, depending on the size of your application and data extract, you can decrease the amount of memory available for the application, and your application performance can suffer.
